The most common mistakes in eye make-up

My lovely girls πŸ™‚

I know at least a hundred people who have collected beautiful make-up cosmetics collection, especially eyeshadow palettes and… that’s it. They just sit there because we don’t really know how to use those palettes. Today, I will tell you a bit about why eye make-up doesn’t usually look as beautiful as in make-up bloggers’ tutorials.

I’ll describe the most common eye make-up mistakes, but if you happen to do any of it, just don’t worry too much about it πŸ™‚ Awareness is the first step towards change, so let’s go! Today is the day you learn how to deal with them.

UNEVEN COMPLEXION

It is a basic mistake that makes the creation of good eye make-up harder. Eyelids have thinner skin are more gentle and it is the area where first fatigue signs appear.

What can you do?

You just need to make the complexion on eyelids even by using a concealer or an eyeshadow base. Yes, sounds like not a big deal but it matters, just believe me:) It’s a base or a concealer that makes make-up last for hours, prevents eyeshadows from gathering in the crease and colors hold and blend with each other perfectly. Use a bit of eyeshadow base and put some matte nude eyeshadow on top of it. It’s just 10-15 seconds and you gain so much from it!

UNKEMPT OR RED WATERLINE

Are you planning some satanic rituals? Do you want to scare away all the people and pets? All due respect, but I will slam you for this black eyeliner on the waterline. Somehow, this ‘trend’ has survived so many years and we still make our eyes optically smaller with this black line on the lower waterline.

What can you do?

It’s simple: change the color to nude or alternatively, to white. It will open the eye and make your face look rested and younger!

SAD SPANIEL’S EYES

Certainly, no one who does the make-up intends to make oneself look older or to appear as sad. Why does it happen then? Mostly because of the balance between the intensity of upper and lower eyelid being disrupted.

Eye make-up has this unexplained by any rules tendency to use darker colors only on the lower eyelid. This is where the effect originates, the eye looks sad, is not optically lifted, but looks droopy and that looks depressing.

What can you do?

Hmm… just maintain the moderation and don’t go smudge the lower eyelid with some blackish product πŸ™‚

HIGHLIGHTING MATTERS

Highlighting inner eye corner is a trick that turns tired eyes into full of energy, rested and fresh eyes. An additional bonus is that eyes appear visibly bigger. Sadly, some people tend to overdo it and in their overeagerness, they put the highlighter also lower along the tear duct. Obviously it reflects light but also draws the attention to dark circles and creates make-up dissonance and you should avoid doing it.

What can you do?

Highlight ONLY the inner eye corner. If the product you use falls lower just take off the excess with a cotton swab.

INCORRECTLY BLENDED EYESHADOW

What does it mean incorrectly blended? It’s a nightmare causing all the eyeshadow palettes to weep πŸ˜‰ I’m talking about the ‘elegant’ eyeshadow blend all way up the eyebrows. Yes, it is still done and notoriously exploited. This trick is surely endorsed by the creators of the Dynasty!

What can you do?

When you blend eyeshadows, do NOT start with the darkest color and do NOT apply it to the edge, i.e. the line where this color is supposed to blend with another. It will be blended later with a brush and then spread all the way to the edge, i.e. where you want it to end. Blending increases the ‘volume’ of color on the eyelid. Blending is a complicated thing and you just have to learn it.

That’s it. Once you master avoiding the mistakes I talk above, you will make a huge step towards beautiful eye make-up. Happy make-uping! πŸ™‚
