I bought and tested The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum especially for the sake of this post. Are you curious of the effect? Has it made my hair denser?
I’ve mentioned numerously that I am a hair oil treatment maniac and I believe there would be no need for drugstore, chemical-based hair products if we had limitless access to natural, cold-pressed and unrefined vegetable oils (especially sweet almond oil which I’m in love with <3).
Nevertheless, I don’t keep off products like hair serum because I think hair likes variety. I also believe that cosmetics must be fine quality and always check that. I decided to test The Ordinary Multi Peptide Serum for Hair Density.
What are the test results?
Multi-Peptide Hair Serum
The Ordinary Hair Serum is filled up with peptides i.e. tiny amino acid chains which are essential for the synthesis of protein (e.g. keratin that hair is made of).
In most cosmetics, peptide substitutes are used, that is plant proteins e.g. milk, rice, silk or wheat proteins. It’s a cool thing that The Ordinary Multi Peptide Serum is based on peptide complex compatible with peptides naturally present in human bodies.
Composition of The Ordinary Multi Peptide Serum
It all sounds perfect but what about the specific ingredients in multi-peptide hair serum? You might be surprised by the richness of this serum.
It’s up to you to decide if it’s a good thing. It actually depends on your needs. My hair doesn’t get along with highly-concentrated products so my hair care kit is mostly filled with natural oils, flower waters and plant gels e.g. aloe gel.
Here are the ingredients in the Ordinary Serum:
- REDENSYL Complex (Larix Europaea Wood Extract and Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract)
- PROCAPIL Peptide Complex
- CAPIXYL Peptide Complex (Trifolium Pratense Flower Extract)
- BAICAPIL Complex (Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Triticum Vulgare Germ Extract and Glycine Soja Germ Extract)
- AnaGain (Pisum Sativum Extract)
- High-Solubility Caffeine (1% net Caffeine by weight)
How does The Ordinary Hair Serum work?
Now, the time has come for the critical part of the post, that is the effect of The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum. I start by summing up what it is supposed to do (the brand’s promises). Next, I move on to effect on my hair.
Main tasks of The Ordinary Hair Serum:
- hair repair and reinforcement.
- faster hair growth.
- stopped hair loss.
- thicker, denser hair.
Too bad nobody provides information on how long it actually takes to spot the difference. I decided to rub The Ordinary Serum into the scalp for a month to see if it works at all.
What I noticed was a slight burning sensation at the very beginning – my skin might have reacted to the high concentration of ingredients. It was fine after two uses but I didn’t see my hair getting better. It was pretty hard to comb it out and it didn’t give me shine that oils give. Did I spot any positives then? Sure! The Ordinary Multi Peptide Serum did reduce hair loss since I saw fewer hairs on my brush.
Summing up. Would I repurchase the serum?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. In my opinion, the effects aren’t worth the price of this hair serum so the purchase simply doesn’t pay off. I’m sticking to my hair oils! 🙂 Of course feel free to test it on your hair and let me know about the outcome in the comments.
